Subzone Records: Selo Brasileiro de Visual Kei (Western Visual Kei)

Sim! Existiu no Brasil um selo totalmente dedicado a bandas que se influenciaram pelo Visual Kei do rock japonês e esse selo se chamou SUBZONE RECORDS. O selo independente foi criado em 2009 na cidade mineira de Juiz de Fora e surgiu do esforço conjunto de bandas locais que compartilhavam a mesma paixão pelo Visual Kei e J-Rock (abreviação para Japanese rock). Fizeram parte desse selo as bandas: Sh.U.Ra, Dreizehn XIII e H.Y.D.R.A. Falaremos um pouco da história de cada uma delas.

Introducing 3 Western Visual Kei bands: Sh.U.Ra, Dreizehn XIII, H.Y.D.R.A.

Sh.U.Ra, Dreizehn XIII and H.Y.D.R.A were 3 visual kei bands which formed in Juiz de Fora, Brazil and were signed under the Indie Label totally dedicated to bands influenced by Visual Kei and Japanese Rock in Brazil, SUB ZONE RECORDS. The label was created in 2009 in the city of Juiz de Fora and it flourished from the joint effort of local bands that shared the same passion for VK and J-Rock.

H.Y.D.R.A

Inicialmente com Saizo (Vocal), Gabu (Baixo), Yoh (Bateria) e Koori (guitarra), e posteriormente Konran como segundo guitarrista, a banda se formou em meados de 2008 e finalizou precocemente suas atividades no final de 2009. Os caras foram inspirados principalmente pela sonoridade das bandas “Dir en Grey” e “the GazettE” e contribuiram para o cenário Visual Kei na cidade mineira de Juiz de Fora se apresentando em eventos de cultura pop Japonesa como CMJF – Nippon Matsuri (2009) e festivais locais de Rock e Metal como o JF Rock Fest e Metal Fest II, além de terem feito parte do selo Juiz-Forano dedicado a bandas locais inspiradas pelo Visual Kei e J-Rock chamado SubZone.

H.Y.D.R.A was formed in the first half of 2008 and disbanded in late 2009. It consisted of Saizo on vocals, Koori and Konran on guitar, Gabu on bass and Yoh on drums. They were inspired mainly by “Dir en Grey” and “the GazettE” and contributed to the Visual Kei scene of Juiz de Fora, performing in Japanese pop culture events such as “CMJF – Nippon Matsuri” (2009), and other local Rock and Heavy Metal festivals like “JF Rock Fest” and “Metal Fest II”. Sh.U.Ra

A banda se formou em meados de 2007 na cidade de Juiz de Fora-MG, influenciada por bandas como “D’espairs Ray” e “Dir en Grey”. O nome é uma sigla para “Shisei Under Raisei” (tradução: morte e vida sob um futuro), mesclando palavras em japonês e inglês a uma interpretação livre da existência. Originalmente com Sat (vocal), Chouji (guitarra), IslAa (baixo) e Yako (bateria), a banda lançou seu primeiro trabalho intitulado Demoんsingle (2009) pelo extinta SubZone records e foi considerada entre as 10 melhores bandas Nacionais de J-Music pela Rádio Animix Awards (2009). Entre trocas de membros e posteriormente sua mudança para Curitiba – PR em 2010, a banda lançou mais 2 singles “CHAOS DANCE [Party Night]” (2010), “A girl without secrets” (2011), além de fazer parte da coletânia Brazil VRock – The end of the World (2012), encerrando suas atividades em 2015.

Sh.U.Ra was formed in the first half of 2007 and disbanded in 2015. It consisted of Sat on vocal, Chouji on guitar, IslAa on bass and Yako on drums. They were influenced by bands like “D’espairs Ray” and “Dir en Grey”. They released their first single, “Demoんsingle”, in 2009 by the extinct indie label SubZone and they were recognized as one of the 10 best Brazilian bands of J-Music by the Radio Animix Awards (2009). After replacing band members and later on moving to Curitiba city (Brazil, 2010), the band released two more singles: “CHAOS DANCE [Party Night]” (2010) and “A girl without secrets” (2011). They were also part of the Brazilian compilation of Visual Kei: VRock – The end of the World in 2012.

Dreizehn XIII

A banda mineira foi criada dia 13/06/2007 em Juiz de Fora, movimentando o cenário musical da cidade em conjunto com a Sh.U.Ra, H.Y.D.R.A e Vivid Colors, bandas também inspiradas pelo J-Rock. Teve no “X- Japan”, “Luna Sea” e “Dir en Grey” suas principais influências do Visual Kei. Com Kuro (Vocal), Kinsei (Bateria), Shiro (Baixo) e Kazuma (guitarra), a banda construiu uma sólida discografia. Lançou o primeiro single L´aliénation (2009), e entre vários outros singles o album físico ULTIMATE (2013), todos produzidos pelo baterista da banda e também produtor do selo independente SubZone. Além dos diversos festivais de Rock e Visual Kei em Minas Gerais e Rio dos quais participaram, foram um dos destaques do Rock brasileiro no programa “Leitura Dinâmica” da Rede TV em 2011, se dissolvendo em 2015.

Dreizehn XIII was formed in 2007 and disbanded in 2015. They consisted of Kuro on vocal, Kazuma on guitar, Shiro on bass and Kinsei on drums. They were specially influenced by “X-Japan”, “Luna Sea” and “Dir en Grey”. They released their very first single titled “L’aliénation” (2009) and, among several other singles, their physical album “ULTIMATE” (2013), all of it produced by the drummer of the band and also the main producer of SubZone. In addition to the various Rock and VK festivals in Brazil they performed, they were also one of the highlights of the Brazilian Rock News in the TV show called “Leitura Dinâmica” in Rede TV in 2011.
